Resolution No. 058-07 — Youth in Need of Care

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community, Band of Mohican Indians, is a federally recognized Indian tribe with inherent sovereign powers, and is governed by the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council pursuant to the 1937 Constitution; and,

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community has the authority under its constitution and its inherent rights as a sovereign nation to adopt and amend Ordinances; and,

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community values its youths and families as important resources; and,

WHEREAS, The Tribe previously adopted Chapter 8, Youth in Need of Care; and,

WHEREAS, Chapter 8, the Youth in Need of Care Ordinance needs several changes to address situations and issues that have arisen over the past several years; and,

WHEREAS, Chapter 8 needed better organization and clearer guidelines.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council hereby repeals the existing Chapter 8, Youth in Need of Care; and replaces the existing Chapter 8, Youth in Need of Care with the Chapter 8, Youth in Need of Care adopted today.
